Priorities

Amanda is an executive leader and has built and sustained accessible, transparent, and effective organizations throughout her career. As a social worker and educator, she is skilled at listening to the needs of people and taking action to accomplish shared goals. Amanda also knows that there are highly qualified people working in the Clerk’s office and she will listen to their ideas, open to what is possible.

Accessibility

Every person in Chesterfield should have access to our court. Amanda has implemented electronic filing, added an accessible entrance to the office, and made additional services – like wedding officiating services – available. Amanda ran for Clerk to increase the availability of services for those who are unable to access the Circuit Court during the workday. She is committed to improving service delivery by increasing what can be done online and offering mobile community services. Amanda is also exploring additional ways to support non-paper filings.

Transparency

When ICE showed up at the Chesterfield Courthouse, Amanda worked to community leaders to expose their presence. Amanda has long been an advocate of transparency and believes the public has a right to know what is happening in our government. As an elected official, Amanda has worked and will continue to work with community members to build the most transparency in our system.

Effectiveness

Amanda has changed the status quo in the Clerk’s Office by changing how work flows and how positions operate. She has already saved taxpayers more than $40,000 by shifting work duties and automating processes for more efficiency while maintaining a focus on customers. She will continue to make improvements in the Clerk’s Office and encourages staff and community members to propose their own changes.

Constituent Focus

When constituents worried that their paper concealed handgun permit could fall apart, Amanda added free laminating for these in the office. When couples needed an officiant to get married, Amanda stepped up to perform those services and added wedding officiating services in the office. When residents worried about deed fraud, Amanda assigned an employee to participate in a statewide task force to reduce fraud and moved to enforce laws to support buyers, sellers, and everyone involved in those transactions.
